Joseph Kohnke

review

Joseph Kohnke:
Life Support,
Chip bags, turkey basters, latex hose, metal and motor.  2001.
"In this piece I was interested in exploring what keeps the body alive. I am intrigued by the idea of machines producing our everyday subsistence as well as sustaining us in poor health."

Farewell Father,
Telephone bells from my father's phone, shirt buttons arranged in Morse code, felt belting, metal, solenoids and motors.  2001.
"With my grandfather on his deathbed and my father already dead, I felt the need to communicate what I regretfully never said to them.  With the hope that they can hear me from the grave, I am able to feel more at ease knowing that my thoughts are in transit."
