Electricity is a fundamental force for making and in some cases encountering the artwork in switched >ON<, both conceptually and executionally.
switched >ON< addresses some of the ways in which new technology has infiltrated the conscious strategies and methodologies of a growing number of artists.
The exhibition presents a range of means and materials, from custom electronics, microprocessors, interactive computer touchscreens and electric motors, to digitally-mediated photographs and video.
These artists engage in a visual and audio dialogue that furthers the Constructivists’ goal of advancing societal development through the use of the ‘tools of one’s time’.
